Here Are The Confirmed Victims Of The Astroworld ‘Mass Casualty’

The greater Houston area and communities around the country are mourning following a “mass casualty” incident that left eight people dead at NRG Park. Houston Fire Chief Same Pena has reported that more than a dozen concertgoers are being treated at a nearby hospital and countless others were treated at field hospital near the park on Friday. Moving forward, the Houston Police Department will conduct an investigation into the matter.

As local authorities began to assess what happened and how, eight families are left to pick up the pieces. There are stories of high school teens passing away, a man dying in an effort to protect his fiance and a pair of childhood friends losing their lives in the midst of chaos. Needless to say, no investigation, lawsuit or apology will make this type of pain disappear.

John Hilgert

Age: 14

“Our hearts go out to the student’s family and to his friends and our staff at Memorial [High School]. This is a terrible loss, and the entire MHS family is grieving today,” Hilgert’s high school principal Lisa Weir wrote in a statement.

Brianna Rodriguez

Age: 16

Hometown: Houston, Texas (Houston Heights)

“Gone from our sites, but never from our hearts. It is with profound sadness we lay to rest our beloved Brianna Rodriguez. Brianna was one of the victims from the Astroworld event. She was a beautiful vibrant 16-year-old high school junior at Heights HS in Houston TX. Dancing was her passion and now she’s dancing her way to heaven’s pearly gates,” a GoFundMe page made in her honor reads.

Danish Baig

Age: 27

Hometown: Colleyville, Texas

“He was [an] innocent young soul who would always put others before him. He was a hard-working man who loved his family and took care of us. He was there in a heartbeat for anything. He always had a solution to everything,” Baig’s brother, Danish, told ABC News.

Jacob E. Jurinek

Age: 21

Hometown: Naperville, Illinois

“Jake was beloved by his family and by his seemingly countless number of friends for his contagious enthusiasm, his boundless energy, and his unwavering positive attitude. He was an avid fan of music, an artist, a son, a best friend to many, and a loving and beloved cousin, nephew, and grandson. Always deeply committed to his family, he was affectionately known as ‘Big Jake’ by his adoring younger cousins, a name befitting of his larger-than-life personality,” Jurinek’s family wrote.

Franco Patiño

Age: 21

Hometown: Naperville, Illinois

“We will always celebrate you. You’re in heaven, mijo,” Patiño’s mother, Teresita, said.

Rudy Peña

Age: 23

Hometown: Laredo, Texas

“He was the youngest of five siblings. He was the calmest, the most playful, he was the sweetest with everyone,” Rudy Peña’s brother-in-law, Sergio Gonzalez, told People.

Axel Acosta

Age: 21

Hometown: Washington

Acosta was identified by his father shortly before this article was written. More details will be added in the coming days.
