Actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger has donated $1 million to front line responders battling the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation is part of a larger fund led by San Francisco freight forwarding company, Flexport. Flexport will be using these funds to stifle the shortage of protective equipment and medical supplies. Thus far, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Schawrzenegger and Edward Norton have donated to the fund.
“My neighbor is on the board of supervisors and she told me the city really needed help,” Flexport CEO Ryan Petersen said.
“Naturally our team stepped in and applied our knowledge of supply chains and logistics plus a long standing partnership with MedShare.org to get them PPE quickly. Now we’re scaling that effort to get more supplies for SF as well as other cities and hospitals that are also in desperate need,” Peterson added.
