New Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman experienced his first major recruiting win this weekend when he landed talented in-state product Moses Moody. Ranked 42nd in the 2020 class according to the 247sports composite rankings, Moody chose the Razorbacks over the likes of Michigan and Virginia.
Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, Moody plays high school ball at Montverde Academy in Florida, a known NBA factory. He played for the Brad Beal Elite on the Nike EYBL circuit this year and led the team – which included UNC commit Caleb Love and Kentucky commit Cam’Ron Fletcher – in scoring with 17.7 points per game. He made just 21 of his 74 three-point attempts (28.4%), but his 83.3% mark from the free-throw line makes it easy to believe that he’ll develop a more reliable jumper down the line.

Given coach Musselman’s notorious affinity for transfers during his time with the Nevada Wolf Pack, it’s encouraging to see him quickly find success with Arkansas on the traditional recruiting trail. The Razorbacks’ top four targets in the 2020 class all hail from Arkansas, and Musselman has already landed two of them in Moody and fellow four-star guard Davonte Davis, who committed in October. The other two – guard KK Robinson and big man Jaylin Williams – could also make their college choice during the early signing period, and there’s a legitimate shot for the Hogs to land both.
Moody has the makings of a college star and given his elite production on the EYBL circuit, it’s easy to argue that he’s being underrated by recruiting services. He helps pave the way for other in-state talents to choose the Razorbacks, which is cause for excitement among fans in Fayetteville.
