The Cardinals and Larry Fitzgerald have finalized a deal that will keep the wide receiver in Arizona. Cardinals general manager Steve Keim announced the completion of the deal at the NFL scouting combine today. “The two biggest pulls for us were pretty simple,” Keim said about the deal, “No. 1 to compensate Larry for the type of player, the type of talent he is and the leader that he is. And then essentially clearing up enough salary cap space for us moving forward to be able to be aggressive and proactive when free agency starts.”
Looks like the mission was accomplished as the team has been able to lock up a the star receiver for essentially the next two years and get enough cash to be make some moves in free agency. Fitzgerald was going to cost the Cardinals almost $24 million in cap space right before free agency but his new deal will pay him $11 million per year while freeing up $13 million in cap space this offseason.
