The Dallas Wings will face the first round of the playoffs without their All-Star guard Arike Ogunbowale due to a muscle injury. The team said on Tuesday afternoon that Ogunbowale underwent an Iliac Crest Core Muscle Avulsion Repair Philadelphia.

With the win on Monday against the New York Liberty, the team clinched the sixth seed in the WNBA standing and secured a spot in the playoffs. As of now, they are expected to play the Connecticut Sun.
The last two spots are still available and the Atlanta Dream, Phoenix Mercury, Minnesota Lynx, New York Liberty, and Los Angeles Sparks are fighting to enter the playoffs.
Ogunbowale’s absence will hurt Dallas in the last three games of the regular season and the start of the playoffs. The team is letting the door open for a possible return in the second round, in case the Wings advance, which is very unlikely without the team’s sole All-Star player.
“Hurts my heart that I can’t be out there with the team, but my dawgs gon hold it down always”, said Ogunbowale on her Twitter profile.
Ogunbowale has led the Wings to a 17-16 record, so far, with 19.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.5 steals in 31.4 minutes per game.
