Ariana Grande is reportedly not attending the biggest night in music.
Ariana Grande is nominated for two Grammy awards this year including, Best Pop Solo Performance for “God is a Woman” and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener.
According to a report by Variety, the singer will no longer perform or attend the Grammys due to a dispute with award show producers. Grande pulled out of the show after producers turned down her request to perform her single “7 Rings.”
The producers,” initially refused to allow her to perform “7 Rings,” the latest single from her forthcoming album “Thank U, Next” (which arrives Friday, two days before the Grammys). A compromise was reached whereby “7 Rings” would be part of a medley, but Grande pulled out after producers insisted that the second song be of their choosing.”
HITS Daily Double first broke this story.
Ariana Grande’s new album thank u, next drops Friday.
Update: Ariana Grande has responded to an interview by the Associated Press with Grammy Producer Ken Ehrlich on Twitter.
The songstress said the producer is “lying about me,” and set the record straight in a series of tweets about why she pulled out of the performance. She fired back tweeting, “i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken.”
i offered 3 different songs. it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported. it’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me.
