During his surprise drop of his “Album of the Year” video, J. Cole rapped, “Dreamville is stacked like the Warriors.” At the time, I’m not sure if anyone believed him. However, he may not be far off. Over the past year, Dreamville’s stock in Hip-Hop has skyrocketed. Cozz and Bas dropped incredible projects. J. Cole rocked the 2019 NBA All-Star game halftime show. Not to mention, J.I.D has cemented himself as one of the leaders of the new school. All the while, Dreamville is also marking its territory out in the world of R&B thanks to Ari Lennox.
The first lady of Dreamville, Ari Lennox, is one of R&B’s most promising talents. The Washington, D.C. native has made her way with the release of her Pho project in 2017 and has been working hard ever since. One of the biggest moments of her year came with the release of Creed II. Produced by Mike WiLL Made-It, the Creed II soundtrack featured Ari Lennox’s latest single, “Shea Butter Baby” featuring J. Cole. At the time of the initial release, Ari Lennox’s R&B smash hit only received a lyric video, but today she’s back with the full video.
