The act of having multiple subscriptions is extremely difficult to manage. It is very difficult to manage your music streaming subscription alongside your video streaming subscriptions. Apple is looking to simplify its user’s lives with a catch-all subscription. Similar to Amazon Prime, the proposed subscription would include one monthly payment that would provide subscribers with music streaming, video streaming, and magazine offerings. In addition, the alleged service would include a two-day shipping service for Apple products.
The proposed service would differ from Amazon Prime in two significant ways. The first apparent difference is that the proposed service would focus on more than music and video streaming. The catch-all service would give subscribers access to magazine, e-books, podcasts and more. The second apparent difference is that the service would offer two-day shipping on Apple products. Apple does not appear to be venturing into creating a catch-all shipping service that Amazon currently operates.
According to a report from The Information, the first step towards this catch-all subscription would be to combine Apple’s magazine service, Texture, with its developing news service. From there, the tech giant would look to combine its magazine and news service with its music and video streaming services. If they continue with this plan, other tech companies will probably follow suit.
