It should come as no surprise that Apple is already hard at work on the next iPhone and its mobile operating system. App developers have reported that they have seen signs of “iPhone 6,1” hardware that is said to be running iOS 7 in their app data usage logs. App data usage logs are what developers use to identify the devices and operating systems using their apps. For example, the current iPhone, iPhone 5, is identified as either “iPhone 5,1” or “iPhone5,2.” This is based on the type of LTE radio included in the particular model.
It’s too soon to say, but based on Apple’s previous release patterns it wouldn’t be a surprise if we saw the next iOS out within the next 6 months, only to be followed by the next iPhone.
