Meek Mill and Cardi B are beginning to become more outspoken about the death of Anthony Myrie. Anthony Myrie was an inmate at the Greene Correctional Facility in upstate New York. As reported by the Times-Union, Myrie was pronounced dead on February 11th after what is reported to be a sudden cardiac arrest. However, Myrie’s family does not believe the cause of the death they were given is accurate. Myrie’s family has indicated that the correctional facility abuses inmates and pointed to the idea that Greene Correctional Facility is looking to cover up the true cause of death.
Since Myrie’s untimely death, a number of artists have voiced their concerns and doubts about how the correctional facility has handled the matter. Cardi B wrote on Instagram, “Greene Correctional Facility, you’re not f*cking getting away with this one.” She later wrote, “I remember when I went to visit someone in Greene and I couldn’t stop crying because the C.O. beat their face up so badly [that the] boy had a black eye for months.” Meek Mill chimed in, “His family can’t find his body after they contacted his family and said he died in state custody!”
The Greene Correctional Facility has remained consistent in their stance and confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
