Set to embark on his seventh season as a professional, New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis is set to undergo a large switch off the court.
Having been a member of the Pelicans during his entire NBA tenure thus far, Davis will make a change within his agency instead. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and Ramona Shelburne, Davis has decided to part ways with his agent and may have his eyes on someone noteworthy as a replacement.
New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis has parted ways with longtime agent Thad Foucher, sources told ESPN.
To officially change agents, players are required to file paperwork with the players’ union and then wait 15 days. Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, who represents LeBron James, among others, is a leading contender to represent Davis, sources said.
Coming off arguably the best season of his career, Anthony Davis will now be in the market for a new agent. Of course, the fact that Klutch Sports is an option is certainly interesting, as Davis has two years left on his current deal with New Orleans.
While Klutch Sports is a prominent agency that has plenty of clients across the league, the tie to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers through close friend Rich Paul is an important side note. Though not everyone under Klutch Sports has suited up alongside LeBron, this could signify a budding relationship between James and an All-World talent set to hit free agency in two summers.
Though the relationship between Davis and the Pelicans has proven to be more than solid over the years, plenty can happen over the span of two years. If Davis ultimately does decide to join Klutch Sports, it could add more speculation and intrigue to the summer of 2020.
