Anna Kendrick has joined the cast of DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming project Trolls.
The Pitch Perfect actress will play a princess named Poppy in the adventure film, based around the popular line of Troll dolls.
Shrek Forever After‘s Mike Mitchell will direct the musical comedy, with Gina Shay producing, reports The Wrap.
In regards to Kendrick’s casting, Mitchell said this:
Anna has proven herself to be a brilliant actress with an amazing singing voice.
She’ll inject Poppy with the exact mix of spirit, sass and song that will no doubt give a whole new life to the iconic Troll dolls.
Troll dolls were created by Danish fisherman Thomas Dam, and went on the become a hit phenomenon in the 1960s. The later enjoyed a comeback in the 1990s.
Trolls is scheduled to be released at cinemas on November 4, 2016.
Anna Kendrick is reprising her role in Pitch Perfect 2, and will star as Cinderella in Disney’s musical adaptation of Into the Woods.
