Two weeks after cutting ties with Warner Records, Anitta has reportedly found a new home at Republic Records. According to the label’s website, she will join a roster that includes The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and Lil’ Wayne among others.
Anitta is a 30-year-old entertainer coming out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She may still be building her brand within the conscious of the casual fan in the United States, but she is already a superstar in many other parts of the world. In Brazil, two of her albums have already gone Diamond while her debut has hit platinum status. Not to mention, she’s graced the stage at Coachella and collaborated with the likes of Saweetie, Missy Elliott, Khalid and Maluma. To top it all off, she’s already locked in with hit-making producers like Max Martin, Ryan Tedder and Stargate.
Despite her success and resumé, she came to blows with her previous label, Warner Records. From her perspective, the company did not promote her music overseas, particularly in the United States, as she had hoped.
“When you’re young and still don’t know much, you have to pay close attention to the things you sign,” she tweeted.
“I asked the label to just do the simple job they were supposed to: promote my music.”
Ultimately, all parties involved called it quits after spending more than decade working together.
“After eleven years of successful partnership, we’ve agreed to go our separate ways,” a joint statement reads.
“Anitta would like to thank the Warner Music team for all their support. And the Warner team wishes Anitta all the best in the future.”
Riding high off of the release of her fifth studio album in 2022, Anitta has big plans at her new home in 2023.
