The Bengals back up quarterback, Jeff Driskel, is expected to make the first start of his career in Sunday’s matchup against the Denver Broncos. Driskel has seen action in four games this season, with most of his snaps taken while filling in for the injured Dalton against the Browns.
Ian Rapport of the NFL Network tweeted additional information on the injury and change in the depth chart.
#Bengals QB Andy Dalton suffered torn ligaments in his thumb, source said. It’s not immediately known if he’s having surgery but his season is over nonetheless. Jeff Driskel, who was 17 of 29 for 155 and a TD, is now the starter.

Cincinnati got off to a good start this season going 4-1 in the opening weeks but have since lost five of their last six games, plummeting down the power rankings. They are currently behind four teams for the second wild-card spot in the AFC playoffs. With their tight end, Tyler Eifert, already on IR and wide receiver AJ Green questionable to play, their playoff hopes continue to dwindle with little relief in sight.
