Number One overall pick Andrew Wiggins has been a Cleveland Cavalier for about three weeks now, and he’s already hearing trade rumors involving him in a Kevin Love trade to Cleveland. As soon as Cleveland made the Jarrett Jack trade to clear cap space to sign LeBron James to a max deal that opened the flood gates of rumors and one casualty of the crazy rumors going on was Andrew Wiggins. It was reported earlier today that Minnesota Timberwolves wouldn’t consider any deal that did not include Rookie Andrew Wiggins. According to CBS Sports, The Cavaliers front office told Wiggins’ reps Wednesday that he would not be involved in a Kevin Love deal, which pretty much makes Wiggins nearly untouchable. If Cleveland wants to trade for Kevin Love to lure James back to Cleveland they’ll certainly have to get creative with it, and owning 2 first round picks for next season and the young talent of Dion Waiters and Tristan Thompson or Anthony Bennett they could make Flip Saunders consider it, but I doubt he would do that trade without Wiggins involved.
It’s a good thing to see The Cavaliers not abandon ship on their #1 overall selection to trade for Love, because Wiggins could be the next superstar in the league. If Cleveland did get Kevin Love it would be huge, but for their sake lets hope they stay patient and move forward in developing Wiggins.
