Canadian basketball star Andrew Wiggins is an athletic freak of nature, as we’ve seen on more than one occassion. When someone small, much like Puerto Rican national team point guard J.J. Barea, is in the way of Wiggins headed towards the hoop, there’s almost no chance of him stopping Wiggins from throwing it down at the rim. Barea made the mistake of getting in front of Wiggins as he headed to the hoop last night, and with a full head of steam, he went at the rim and Barea attempted to slide out of the way but Wiggins threw it down on him anyway.
Wiggins finished the game with 20 points as the Canadians beat Puerto Rico 78-72. The Canadians finished their FIBA Americas tune-up with a 4-0 record, and are looking very good heading into the actual tournament. The FIBA Americas is an Olympic qualifying event, and the top 2 teams go to the Olympics. With the way Canada is playing right now, they are likely to be one of the top 2 teams in the tournament, and will go to the Olympics for the first time since 2000.
