When teams make a trade, especially as big as this one. Most of the time the players involved are told that they’ve been traded before the team publicises it.
But poor Andrew Wiggins. He was pretty much the last person to know about it according to Dan Feldman of ProBasketballTalk.
Just Spoke to Andrew Wiggins at NBA Rookie Transition Program – Said Congrats on trade to T-Wolves – He said I didn’t know, is it final? Wow—
Tim McCormick (@TMcCormickESPN) August 07, 2014Now, it’s possible Wiggins knows and was told not to reveal the information. If that’s the case, he wouldn’t share his knowledge until he was absolutely certain the trade had become public and McCormick wasn’t trying to pull a fast one to extract inside info.
I really hope that’s the case.
If he wasn’t told. That is a real problem. You can’t not tell your traded no.1 pick just so he could guess it while at the Rookie Transition Program.
That just isn’t right. But hopefully he was told beforehand.
