Some would argue that it was the trade that brought Andrew Bogut to the Golden State Warriors, that started the beginning of the Splash brothers era of basketball in Oakland. In May of 2012, the Milwaukee Bucks traded Andrew Bogut for Monta Ellis, which gave the younger Stephen Curry the playing time to shine. Bogut gave them a defensive presence under the rim and continues to be a key player for the Warriors as they go for their 2nd NBA championship this year.
Bogut has always been an aggressive and physical player as a Center, centering his game around defense and points within 2 feet of the basket, and he’s made a career out of it. Averaging 5 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks per game for the Warriors this season, Bogut helps bolster the already defensive minded Warriors squad. When Diamond Leung, Beat Writer for the Warriors, spoke to Bogut after their game 1 win vs. the Trail Blazers in the second round, Bogut had some funny comments on his court presence:
Andrew Bogut on himself on the court: “I’m an asshole, 100 percent.”

Andrew Bogut says they say basketball ring in Australia.

Andrew Bogut on if anyone has ever called him an a-hole during a game: “Yeah. Go to my social media after every game.”

In my opinion, Bogut is exactly what a team like the Warriors need. With players as sporadic and unpredictable as Draymond Green, Klay Thompson or Stephen Curry, it’s always good to have someone as the rock of the team, and I think Bogut is exactly that.
