Andre Johnson, one of the NFL’s All-Time greatest pass catchers, has elected to call it a career. After the Texans made a business decision to drop Johnson, he became a member of the Indianapolis Colts last season and then he joined the Tennessee Titans this year. But he undoubtedly made his mark for over a decade with the Houston Texans.
He was the third overall pick by the Houston Texans in the 2003 NFL Draft, selected by the team looking to pair him with David Carr and develop a dynamic passing attack for the new franchise. While Carr was long gone from Houston by 2006, Johnson still proceeded to rip up the league and put up some impressive stats.
Johnson retires as the greatest receiver in the history of the Texans, having the top spot in every major statistical receiving category. He is also a seven-time Pro Bowler, four-time All-Pro, three-time NFL receiver of the year and two-time NFL receiving yards leader. He’s also in the top 100 for all-time touchdowns, top 50 among wide receivers on the all-Time TD list and top 10 in the all-time receptions and receiving yards lists.
After two less than stellar campaigns with the Colts and Titans, Johnson elects to join his former Texans teammate Arian Foster and announce his retirement.
