Golden State Warriors’ core player Andre Iguodala will reportedly look at other offers sources tell Shams Charania and The Vertical. Initially it was reported that Iguodala would sign back with the Warriors and not entertain other suitors, but that course has apparently been scrapped. Iguodala made $11 million last season but, with the rising cap and his notable value, he could be in line for a contract worth closer to $20 million per season.
According to The Vertical the Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls, and Minnesota Timberwolves all have interest in Iguodala’s services. Teams that wish to woo Iguodala from Golden State will reportedly have to show a clear vision and path to contention. This likely eliminates the Bulls from that mix, given their roster is up in the air. The Clippers have little financial flexibility, though the Jazz and Wolves certainly have compelling cases. Minnesota in particular has a need for a veteran wing to be the glue on a young roster. Utah had a nice run into the playoffs and could steal Iguodala from the team that eliminated them in the second round of the playoffs.
Warriors general manager commented on the situation with Iguodala and his impending free agency. Suddenly, the outlook appears cloudy. In addition to Iguodala, Golden State are attempting to retain backup Shaun Livingston while also giving big contracts to Kevin Durant and Steph Curry.
