When Steve Kerr asked Andre Iguodala to come off the bench in 2015, it was a surprise. Iggy had been a career starter since he was 21 years old. Starting every single game he had ever played in up until that point it was unclear whether this move would work. Ultimately it has lead to 3 of the winningest seasons of all-time and a championship ring.
The whole time you never heard any complaints from Andre, winning tends to do that. Now with his contract up this summer, questions surround whether he will re-sign with the Warriors or take his now inflated value to cash in somewhere else.
Without revealing his exact plans, possibly not wanting to lose any chance to negotiate, he strongly suggested he will stay in Golden State according to Tim Kawakami of “The Mercury News”,
“Bob and I have conversations all the time about different scenarios and different things, not just about me, but about the rest of the team..
“So I don’t see it being a big problem at all. And here right now will probably be the best place.”
The hardest part about keeping this core together will obviously come down to the money. The Warriors feasibly have 4 guys who deserve max contracts. It will be up to Bob Craft and the front office to figure out how to secure all of their players under the salary cap, for the right money. What a great problem to have.
