Andre Drummond is a rebound engulfing machine but provided little else last season. Because of this and despite signing a large contract just one year ago, his name was floated in trade rumors constantly over the past few months. According to Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press, Drummond’s family had a hard time dealing with those trade rumors.
“It was tough for my family and me to hear those rumors, but guys making that much money, not having the year they’re supposed to have, obviously that’s what’s going to happen. I’ve accepted that.”
“I never had to deal with that before,”
“I wasn’t playing the way I was supposed to play and they were looking for a better option, but they still have faith in me and believe that I can still be on this team and get us to where we need to get that down,”
Drummond is clearly disappointed but it is his understanding of what needs to be done to avoid this happening again that should be slightly reassuring for Pistons fans. Drummond knows he has to play and do better next season or his name will likely once again be in trade rumors.
