Andre “Andre 300” Benjamin has landed his next acting role. The legendary artist is set to star alongside Michelle Williams in the upcoming project from A24 called Showing Up. Benjamin has previously starred in Idlewild, High Life, Be Cool, Charlotte’s Web and Semi-Pro. He also led his own animated show, Class of 3000.
Hong Chau, Judd Hirsch, Maryann Plunkett, John Magaro, Heather Lawless, Amanda Plummer, Larry Fessenden and James Le Gros have also joined the growing project. Kelly Reichardt is set to write the script alongside Jon Raymond. Neil Kopp, Anish Savjani, and Vincent Savino will also produce the project.
Showing Up tells the story of an evolving artist on the verge of her big break. Along the way, she must manage her friendships, family life and much more as she brings her art to life.
A24 has not set a release date for the film as of yet. In the meantime, the production house will debut Zola, The Green Knight and Val this summer.
