Couldn’t get enough of Ron Burgundy? Well you are in luck as ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ is hitting theaters again with an extended cut.
According to Empire, the new film will be 20 minutes longer than the original release and will feature 763 new jokes.
Director Adam McKay said he couldn’t believe there were that many jokes.
“When my editor told me we had a whole different version of the movie that was more than two hours long with nearly 800 new jokes, I was shocked,” said McKay. “But when Paramount said they were actually going to put it in theaters, I did a 1950’s spit take. If you’re a hardcore Anchorman fan, go see this. If you’re not, stay very far away.”
McKay said all the improv helped create the extended cut.
“We did so much improv on this one that we can literally replace every single joke in the movie and put in alt scenes and alt improv runs,” said McKay. “”I think it would be really funny to put it in theaters for midnight showings. I know that I personally, if I loved a movie and someone told me that, like if Airplane! had been released with all-new jokes, I’d be like, ‘you’ve got to be fucking kidding me!’ I’d see it in a second.”
The sequel has earned $125 million at the box office so far.
The new extended edition of the comedy simply titled ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues – Super-Sized R-Rated Version‘ will hit theaters on Feb. 28 for a week long run.
