Amy Poehler is set to make her directorial debut on Netflix with the upcoming comedy Wine Country. The Hollywood Reporter first reported the story. Poehler will also produce and star in the film.
The film will also star Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Maya Rudolph and Emily Spivey. Poehler’s longtime partner in crime Tina Fey will also work on the project.
Wine Country tells of longtime friends who go to Napa for a weekend getaway to celebrate a 50th birthday.
The script was written by Spivey, who worked with Poehler on Parks and Recreation as well as on Saturday Night Live. Liz Cackowski, another SNL alum, also worked on the script. Carla Hacken of Hell or High Water and Morgan Sackett, a veteran TV producer who worked on Parks and Recreation, Veep and Seinfeld, will also be producing.
Poehler has directed episodes of Parks and Recreation and Broad City but Wine Country will mark her feature debut.
Production on the film will begin toward the end of March in Los Angeles and Napa.
