Summer is winding down, which means fall season premieres are almost here!
One that everyone is excited about is American Horror Story: Hotel, which stars Lady Gaga as The Countess.
AHS: Hotel marks the fifth season of Ryan Murphy’s [Glee] horror series, which vary from time periods and locations in each season.
AHS: Hotel, focuses on Hotel Cortez, which was built in 1930 by James March [Evan Peters]. The building was designed in a way to help the Countess keep up with her murderous activities, filled with a labyrinthine structure and dozens of dead ends and secret rooms.
This season, the show will move through two different time periods: the 1930’s, and present day, after The Countess has acquired the property. Gaga’s The Countess is a glamorous socialite with a streak for killing, who also wears a sharp chainmail glove with a strong thirst for blood and sex.
Gaga covered Entertainment Weekly’s latest issue and shows us all her new bloody look. She also spoke with the magazine about her role saying, “I’ve just been weeping while I’m here because I have returned to something I’ve believed in so much, which is the art of darkness.”
In addition to the first look at Gaga as The Countess, EW also has 11 new photos that show the rest of the American Horror Story: Hotel‘s cast. Newcomers to the show include Matt Bomer as Donovan, the lover of The Countess for 20 years, Cheyenne Jackson as Will Drake, a fashion designer, Naomi Campbell as Vogue editor Claudia, and Max Greenfield as Gabriel, a junkie.
Fans of the show will also be happy to see some familiar faces with Angela Bassett as Ramona Royale, a film star and an ex-lover of The Countess, and Kathy Bates as Iris, Donovan’s mother and employee of the Hotel Cortez. Sarah Paulson plays Hypodermic Sally, another junkie who resides at the hotel.
Wondering how Gaga snagged the role? Well according to Gaga, it was all her idea. “I called him and I said, ‘Ryan, I wanna be on Horror Story,” Gaga recalled to EW. “And he goes, ‘Okay.’ And that was it.“
Unfortunately, fan favorite and Emmy winner Jessica Lange will not appear in the fifth season, which premieres on FX in October!
