The Knicks are likely headed into this weekend’s preseason game without the services of Amar’e Stoudemire who will be rested due to the bone bruise on his knee. It’s the same injury on his left knee that kept the former All-Star out of the Knicks opening game loss to the Wizards mid-week, Stoudemire will travel with the team to Connecticut to face the Celtics but is listed as ‘questionable’ to play in the game.
Stoudemire says there’s no need to expedite his return because it’s only preseason.
“I could play if I needed to, but it’s the preseason, so we’re not going to force anything right now,” Stoudemire said on Friday. “A bone bruise is never a fun thing. It takes a while for it to heal. Right now, we’re just trying to break up the blood that’s in there, loosen it up and get ready.”
