A blow for the Knicks Amar’e Stoudemire – and for the team as well – with news that the power forward is set to miss the next 2-3 weeks with a ruptured popliteal cyst behind his left knee. The injury comes just one day after Stoudemire played for the Knicks in their preseason loss to the Raptors in Montreal, a game in which the Knick two stars again failed to click with each other. Amar’e is expected to miss the first few games of the new NBA season.
The former All-Star suffered a bone bruise on the knee about 10-days ago but further examination through an MRI exam revealed the true nature of the injury. It’s the same knee Stoudemire had micro-fracture surgery on in 2005, although the two conditions are not related.
It’s a blow for the Knicks who, despite enjoying a full preseason together, are still struggling to work on team chemistry with a spate of injuries hitting the team, and other new signings such as Rasheed Wallace, still trying to get into game shape.
