Amar’e Stoudemire has been decent. Can we establish this? He was trash in New York. The first couple of years were because of injuries. But in the latter stint of being a Knick. He was mediocre. But now he’s in Dallas. Admittedly to finally get a ring. To get that ever elusive championship. And he’s been an alright player for them. He’s even been a voice for the Mavs. Saying that they need to get their game up. And according to ESPN Dallas. Amar’e is 13 years into his career and is not stopping now.
“I’m the last man standing,” Stoudemire said with a smile while stretched out on the floor of the visitors locker room with a pair of compression boots during the Dallas Mavericks’ recent trip to Phoenix. “I plan on standing for a while, by the way.
“No, no, there’s no way. There’s a lot of youth in these legs. I have a lot of competitive juices still flowing in me. There’s no way I’m ready to be the next man.”
“This isn’t it for me, for sure,” Stoudemire said. “There’s a lot of basketball left. There’s a lot of high-level basketball left in me. I feel competitive. I have faith in my body, what I can do on a basketball court on a consistent basis.
“The next step should be the best step, because I want to make sure I leave the game on a high note. That’s the ultimate goal.”
I don’t get the hate with Amar’e. Yes he had a trash stretch in New York. But you all saw him in Phoenix. He was a tank! And he’s still getting it done in Dallas. Honestly I think he is revitalized, New York is far behind him. He knows this. And Dallas is finding that out.
In the same article Stoudemire says that he’s looking for a multi-year contract. Which I wouldn’t mind giving him at all. I certainly ain’t giving him Knicks money. Miss me on that. But if I was Dallas, I’d resign him in a heartbeat.
