Amar’e Stoudemire has penciled in a Christmas Day return from injury, even though he has yet to begin running on the court as yet. The Knicks power forward had originally planned to be back in action by mid-December but his long-term health is a priority for New York, they wish to have him healthy for the playoffs, and coupled with the Knicks hot start to the season, Stoudemire will not be rushed back sooner than need be.
Stoudemire underwent surgery on November 1st after he ruptured a popliteal cyst behind the knee during the Knicks’ exhibition game against Toronto on October 19th. The original timetable for his return was 6-8 weeks which is right around the middle of December, but that has now changed and the Christmas Day showdown with the Lakers is the likely comeback game.
