Baumgardner has not fought since July 15, 2023. Fighting in her adopted home of Detroit, Michigan, she earned a unanimous decision victory against Christina Linardatou and improved her record to 15-1 with seven knockouts. Shortly after the fight, she was barred from the ring after testing positive for two banned substances during a voluntary anti-doping test in July. Baumgardner maintained her innocence and was ultimately cleared by the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC).
“Through trials and tribulations, I’ve stayed true to my faith in Jesus Christ,” she wrote.
“Despite public scrutiny and lies, I remain strong and confident.”
As she prepared to return to the ring, the Freemont, Ohio native lost her father.
“I was working out today and it hit me my dad not calling to check up on me anymore. I’m hurt I’ll keep pushing though,” she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Will randomly start crying… death feels unreal.”
Moving forward, Baumgardner is hoping to return to the ring, so she can take time to mourn the loss of her father.
“[I have] been training since March,” she wrote.
“I want to get his fight out the way ASAP. I need to mourn properly and disappear for a [minute].”
