Alvin Gentry has been an integral piece of the Golden State Warriors, as soon as he came into Steve Kerr’s coaching staff and the Warriors blew up it was clear that Alvin would be in talks to be a head coach of another team again, it was written.
And that writing is beginning to set in stone as the New Orleans Pelicans are making many steps to grab Gentry, they’ve had an interview and according to NOLA.com the Pelicans think Gentry is really interested in the gig.
“He’s more than interested,” the source said Thursday morning. ”He really believes that this is a job that would certainly define him as a coach because of the opportunity that it creates.
”Certainly this is one of those jobs that you feel is probably as good as any job available right now, no question. Even if there were no other jobs, it would still be the best.”
The New Orleans job, in my opinion is the second best job out there. Personally I prefer the Orlando job strictly because they have a good core that has room to grow. Yes New Orleans have Anthony Davis, but past him you have several pieces that are injury prone and that can kill you, Davis cannot keep bailing them out.
