On the cusp of a return to the playoffs after missing the postseason last year, every game is monumental for the New Orleans Pelicans and head coach Alvin Gentry. Currently in a three-way tie in the middle of the Western Conference playoff race with a record of 40-30, each game is magnified and could make all the difference when it comes to playoff seeding.
Alvin Gentry knows how much each game means at this juncture and let his emotions get the best of him following a narrow 107-101 loss to the Houston Rockets. Gentry publicly criticized the evening’s officiating following the game and the NBA has levied down a $15,000 fine as a result.
Gentry made a series of comments during the postgame media interview regarding the officiating during the game. He questioned the way the refs altered such a crucial game including a technical foul that he was called for. Gentry also claimed Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis doesn’t get the respect from refs that he deserves because he doesn’t argue foul calls. You can view Gentry’s comments below:

Alvin Gentry and his Pelicans have a crucial and potentially season-altering stretch ahead, as they’ll face the Rockets again plus the Cavs, Thunder, and Blazers in four of their next seven outings.
