A woman can dream, can’t she?
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Allison Williams, one of the stars of M3GAN and M3GAN 2.0, says she is “dreaming” of a third film in the growing creative imprint.
“We don’t want to presume anything, but I would say a lot [of forethought],” she told THR. “That’s all I’m going to say. We love to dream; that’s why we’re all in this business. We have big aspirations of big dreams, and I certainly don’t feel like I’m done making these movies with these people and this tonal landscape and the subject matter. So, yeah, I have been dreaming of a third, for sure.”
M3GAN is a 2022 sci-fi horror film from James Wan, Akela Cooper, and Gerard Johnstone. Led by Williams as Gemma, a roboticist, Violet McGraw as Cady, Gemma’s niece, and Amie Donald and Jenna Davis playing the titular role, M3GAN tells the story of a good deed gone wrong packed with unexpected twists and turns.
“When robotics engineer Gemma becomes the guardian of her orphaned niece, Cady, she thinks her new invention, a robotic AI, will be a good companion. However, M3GAN begins to behave in unexpected and shocking ways,” the description reads.
M3GAN earned rave reviews and proved to be a commercial success, earning more than ten times its budget at the box office and setting the stage for the sequel. Bringing back Gemma, M3GAN, and company, M3GAN 2.0 picks up two years after the first installment of the potential trilogy.
“Two years after M3GAN’s rampage, her creator, Gemma, resorts to resurrecting her infamous creation in order to take down Amelia, the military-grade weapon who was built by a defense contractor who stole M3GAN’s underlying tech,” the description reads.
M3GAN 2.0 debuts in theaters on Friday, June 27, 2025. Receiving relatively favorable reviews from viewers and critics, M3GAN 3.0 doesn’t seem to be out of the question.
