Allen Iverson was one of the most polarizing and inspiring figures in all of basketball during the first decade of the new millennium. His flashy plays on the court perfectly matched his unique style off of it, with fans across the nation naturally falling in love with him.
Iverson carried the 76ers, leading them to the NBA Finals in 2001 while obliterating opposing defenses with his crazy ball handling and scoring skills. Kids looked up to him, and much like today’s generation with players such as Stephen Curry, watching Iverson do his thing inspired them to pick up a basketball and do the same.
Iverson was as laid-back as it gets during his career: There are several stories from former teammates to back that up. Before the Sixers played the Lakers last night, the team honored Allen Iverson with an “Allen Iverson Hall of Fame night”. Iverson, to absolutely nobody’s surprise, made another hilarious comment to reporters during the night: He claims that he didn’t lift weights during his playing career. Why, you ask?
Iverson just said he didn't lift weights when he played because "that shit was too heavy."

“That sh*t was too heavy” could be the quote of the year.
Between his ‘practice’ rant and this, well, you get the point: Iverson is one of the most beloved NBA figures in league history, and continues to be with amazing quotes like this.
During the night, Iverson also addressed a hot topic today: Players sitting out of regular season games to rest.
