This year the Portland Trail Blazers have entered my list of teams I like. I’m sure that you have a new found respect for the Portland Trail Blazers since they remained a Playoff team even though they were gutted like a fish.
One player that impressed in-house was Allen Crabbe. He is their primary 6th Man and provides half decent shooting in case Lillard or McCollum are on the bench. Crabbe is now a restricted free agent which gives Portland the advantage of equalling whatever offer he gets from another team. Whatever happens, he wouldn’t mind sticking with the Blazers and create something good.
“Any pay raise is going to be significantly higher than what I’m making now,” said Crabbe, who was selected by the Cavaliers with 31st pick of the 2013 Draft before being traded to Portland. “But like I said earlier, it’s just situation really for me. It doesn’t make sense to make a lot of money and go to a team that, if you don’t fit that system, then get paid a lot of money to be frustrated? That doesn’t make sense to me. The culture here, it’s great. I know this organization well, I know the system, know the coaches, players. It’s just real comfortable here. I wouldn’t mind being here, I really wouldn’t.”
I think he’s impressed the Blazers since they gave him his first season of significant minutes. I think they will hook him up with a little pay rise and a tasty contract. Let’s see if he can become a legitimate 6th Man.
