According to a report by TMZ Sports, Brooklyn Nets guard Allen Crabbe made a significant donation to save his former high school from shutting down.
Frederick K.C. Price III Christian School in south Los Angeles was set to shut down for good before Allen Crabbe decided to step in and contribute a significant amount of money towards the school’s funding. It was said that Crabbe donated a “substantial 6-figured check.”
“I was at that school practically my whole life,” Allen says. “I’m just happy and feel blessed to be in a position now to do this.”
Allen Crabbe’s grandfather was Federick K.C. Price who was the founder of the high school. Crabbe spent a lot of his time as a kid being around the school from youth to graduation. Price won a California Division IV title in 2010 and Crabbe was named the state’s Mr. Basketball title that year. In 2015, Crabbe’s No. 23 was retired by the school.
It’s always encouraging to see athletes give back to their communities and contribute however they can in order to give back. The school was something meaningful to Crabbe, and his decision to help out will be appreciated by staff and students who attend the school.
Allen Crabbe was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in 2017 after the Portland TrailBlazers matched his contract in 2016. In the 2017-18 season, Crabbe averaged a career-high 29.3 minutes per game. He managed to average 13.2 points per game and shoot 37.8% from 3.
