We are officially into the second week of free agency and it is clear that all the big fish have been fried. It is now time for the lesser known free agents to get their money.
Allen Crabbe had a mini breakout as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers, or you can see it as the Blazers breaking out as a team and it just so happens that Crabbe was a restricted free agent to be. Nevertheless, he took advantage of Portland’s Playoff appearance that nobody saw coming.
Now before free agency Allen Crabbe stated that he wants to stay in Portland, but as we all know, money talks, and money was telling Crabbe to go to Brooklyn. He obliged with a 4-Year, $75M deal.
The contract includes a fourth-year player option and a 15 percent trade kicker that could escalate the deal to $83 million, sources said.
The deal is a monstrous package for a 24-year-old guard who averaged 10.3 points as a Blazers reserve in his third NBA season.
The Nets plan to make Crabbe a starter, but his role with the Blazers would continue to be as a reserve behind C.J. McCollum.
The Blazers received the signed sheet on Thursday night and will have three full days to match the offer and retain Crabbe – or let him leave for the Nets.
Lucky for Crabbe, the Nets have seemed to have promised Crabbe, a sixth man in Portland, a starting role. Seems as if Mr Allen Crabbe has struck gold. One season of averaging under 11 points a game gets you a starting role. Talk about a promotion!

The Portland Trail Blazers had the opportunity to match the Nets’ offer for Allen Crabbe and that’s exactly what they’ve done according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Unfortunate for Crabbe, he would’ve gotten a starting role in Brooklyn. Honestly i have no idea why Portland decided to match. $75 Million is way too steep for a borderline 6th Man.
