All 10 NBA Games From Friday Night Including Another Triple OT

  • December 20, 2014
  • Charlie Taylor

Oh how I do love some NBA on a Friday night! Seriously it never disappoints, there’s always that one game that makes the night a great one. Which one am I talking about? Just going to have to read on.

Washington Beat Resilient Heat 105-103
The Heat definitely brought it to the Wizards. Forcing the Wiz to actually make a 4th quarter surge. I could not be happier with Dwyane Wade right now. 28 points and 8 assists. He is proving the doubters wrong. It’s a shame John Wall is playing at MVP level. 20 points and 10 assists. But there was an x factor. Nene! Come on down! I see you dropping 20 points off the bench! The Wizards have a 6 game win streak and they seem so fluid in terms of chemistry.

Favors & Hayward Lead Jazz To Beat Orlando 101-94
Derrick Favors is underrated in my view. He gets the stats but because he’s been playing for the Jazz. He doesn’t get recognition. In this game he teamed up with Gordon Hayward to drop a combined 43 points. This proved to carry the Jazz and suppress Tobias Harris and Evan Fournier who combined for 7 of 11 shooting from 3-Point land. With this win. The Jazz are finally have back-to-back wins for the first time this season. The catalyst is rebounding. If they keep grabbing them boards they’ll have their chance to win games. It can be done. Favors and Kanter are both good players.

Charlotte Finally Close In The 4th. Beating Philadelphia 109-91
After losing solely because they suck in the 4th. Charlotte for once get it done in the 4th quarter holding Philly to just 19 points. Kemba Walker dropped 30 points while Al Jefferson came alive in the second half scoring 16 of his 20 points in the second half.

“I didn’t start off well at all. But Kemba led the way. I figured I had to be the one to end it.”
Al Jefferson on his performance.

Boston Win First Game Without Rondo On The Roster. 114-98 Final Score Against The T’Wolves.
No Rondo in Boston? No problem say the Celtics. Especially for a certain Kelly Olynyk who got 21 points for the C’s. Boston had the statistical edge. Having the FG% by over 10%. They also thrashed the T’Wolves in the paint. 68-48, a 20 point advantage for the Celtics and that was the reason they won. If you don’t have the paint. You have to live and die by the jumpshot. Minnesota had to do that and got an L because of it.

James Passes Barkley On All-Time Scoring As Cleveland Beat Brooklyn 95-91
As LeBron passes a legend, Mike Miller goes back in time. Scoring 21 points. 5-6 from behind the arc. The Nets didn’t see it coming. Joe Johnson got a game high 26 points and Deron Williams left the game in the second quarter with a strained right calf. He will have an MRI today. Mike Miller was averaging 1.5 PPG before this game. Just goes to show he’s still a beast when he’s called upon.

Raptors Win A Heated Battle Against The Pistons 110-100
I’m going to miss those savage black/red kits the Raptors wear so well. If you haven’t heard the Raps are re-branding.  The logo looks like Brooklyn’s by the way. Anyways, back to the game. This was relatively even. For the Raptors this was a hard fought 10 point win. The Pistons have a 12 game home losing streak. I’m not surprised that they have the worst attendance in the league. They’re just an eyesore. You could make a case for saying that there was a bigger Raptors attendance than Pistons. That’s when you know that you’re in turmoil.

Chicago Rep The East And Beat Memphis 103-97
Jimmy Butler. You. Are. A. Beast! This guy has exploded recently. He has been automatic all week and this game was no different. 31 points for Butler. But wait. There’s more. Nikola Mirotic! Off the bench scoring a career high 27 points. You forget that he’s a Rookie in this league. He just seems so comfortable out there. Memphis had no chance. Chicago were firing on all cylinders. Statement win by the Bulls.

Denver Win Despite Blake’s Big Night. 109-106 Final Score
The only reason the Clippers were in this game was because Denver commit so many turnovers. 21 turnovers is unacceptable. But lucky for Denver, they were hot behind the arc. If Chandler and Gallinari didn’t hit those clutch threes late in the fourth. We’d be talking about a whole different game. Blake Griffin had a big individual night, 32 points. His second 30 point game in a row. It’s a shame that the Clippers can’t win on the road. They’ve dropped their last three.

OKC Edge The Lakers 104-103
The Thunder still have a long way to go. Even though they got 31 points out of Russell Westbrook, the Lakers were there till the end. The Thunder struggled without Durant. They were beat on FG% and rebounds but they got the win. Kobe was nowhere to be seen last night, 3-15 shooting. Only 9 points. He looked fatigued all game.

San Antonio Lose Second Straight Triple OT Game. Portland Wins 129-119
Where do I start?! Somebody help me! Damian Lillard. What a beast! Career high 43 points. San Antonio. Losing another triple OT game. The last time a team had consecutive triple OT games was when the Baltimore Bullets did so in December 1951. So that’s rare air.

The San Antonio Spurs are struggling to close games without Tony Parker. As a Spurs hater. I’m loving it. But they are certainly missing him. The Spurs are now 17-10. 1.5 games behind the Clippers in 6th. I know that these two games won’t phase them. I may have a distaste for them but I’m not stupid. They don’t thin about losses. They “Clear History” every time they take an L.

For Portland. They’re 3rd in the West and are look cozy. Very cozy.
