If you’re not familiar with Cleveland native, Alina Baraz, you will be familiar with her by the end of 2018. Named by Forbes as one of the voices of R&B to look out for in 2018, Baraz is poised for a major year. Baraz got to work early in the year by landing a spot on the 2018 Coachella lineup and has now followed up with the release of her first solo EP, The Color of You. The Midwestern Pop & R&B singer has put together a seven-track project with features from Jada and the American Teen Khalid.
The thirty minute EP features much of what you would expect with from the soft sounding pop songstress. Most notably, Baraz shines on “Floating” and “Electric” with Khalid. The duo first hooked up on “Electric” last January and have maintained good chemistry in the months following. Could a collab project be in the future? Only time will tell.
Aside from her collaborations with Khalid, Baraz has seemingly found a voice as a somber, soft sounding counterpart to the likes of The Weeknd, Khalid and other smooth, laid-back R&B, Pop male superstars. Going forward, fans can look to Baraz’s performance of her new music at Coachella and a full length project in the future. In the meantime, you can stream her full-length project, The Color of You, below.
