2016 just might officially be the year of the heavy-hitters as some of the music industry’s biggest names are marking their return to the music scene. Next up to the plate to deliver some new material is the one and only Alicia Keys. Almost 4 years ago, Ms. Keys had went on to release her fifth studio album, Girl On Fire, and also took the time to expand her family further with a new child, along with creating new material for her upcoming album. Now, as she’s ready to share what she has been working on and just in time for the rapidly approaching warm weather on the East coast, Alicia Keys has gave fans the first taste of her forthcoming studio effort with ‘In Common.’
Heard immediately in the opening seconds, ‘In Common’ conveys an island-vibe along with production that’s very reminiscent of Drake’s ‘Take Care’ hit. Singing, “We got way too much in common, since I’m being honest with you,” the record is laced with a catchy hook that will be embedded in brains after the first few listens. Even better, ‘In Common’ serves as a new sound for Alicia Keys and she sounds right at home on the record as it works very well for her. Looking ahead, as new details emerge about her album, we would definitely like to hear more records along the lines of ‘In Common’ on her upcoming LP.
