The French are stacking on the big men these days. First Rudy Gobert makes a name for himself and now here comes Alexis Ajinca excelling as Anthony Davis’ backup.
When he got the extension from the Pelicans, I 100% agreed, this guy is just like Gobert, maybe with a better offensive skillset. I can’t wait to see what him and Davis will do as a 1-2 punch.
But we’ll have to wait for a little while, as Ajinca has to recover from a right hamstring strain.
The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that center Alexis Ajinca is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a right hamstring strain. The injury occurred during the second quarter of the Pelicans’ preseason opener against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday, Oct. 3.
Ajinca, 7 feet 2, 220 pounds, appeared in 68 games for New Orleans during the 2014-15 season, averaging a career-best 6.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
I didn’t even know that he was 7″2, that’s crazy height right there. He’s very athletic for a 7″2 baller. And it’s only a hamstring strain, nothing serious. But like all injuries, can’t be too careful. Expect him to come back on the 4 week mark, maybe earlier.
