Oklahoma City Thunder guard Alex Abrines underwent a successful surgery to address a sports hernia and is expected to be out of action for around six weeks, the team announced Thursday:

Abrines and the Thunder’s season came to a close when they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Utah Jazz.
Abrines, 24, was born in Spain and spent four years playing for FC Barcelona before being drafted 32nd overall by the Thunder in 2013.
Abrines made his NBA debut with the Thunder during the 2016-17 season, when he averaged six points and 1.3 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game while shooting 39.3 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from 3-point range. Though he only plays around 15 minutes per game, Abrines’ prowess as a perimeter shooter makes him an important weapon for the Thunder.
