Nine games. NINE. The NFL seemingly has turned the dial all the way to max in regards to their player conduct policies, and it looks like Aldon Smith is the first victim. His nine game suspension isn’t unwarranted however.
Five games were taken off of his season for violating the league’s personal conduct policies, and four more for substance abuse.
Not only has his appeal been rejected, but during the nine-week stretch he is banned from being at any 49er facility, something that the folks in San Francisco were hoping for.
After two DUIs, a deadly weapon posession, and a bomb threat…it isn’t surprising for the league to make Smith an example. This suspension has an almost “last chance” aura to it.
