Al Jefferson has had a very tumultuous season that has been plagued by injuries. Honestly if he was healthy all season Charlotte wouldn’t be in this position. They’d be on Milwaukee’s level. Unofficially safe in that 6th seed threatening to go further. But unfortunately they’re battling with Miami, Boston, Indiana and Brooklyn.
Al Jefferson left Wednesdays game against Sacramento. Apparently feeling a pop in his leg. Of course the team took proper precautions and got him an MRI. The results are in. And according to The Charlotte Observer, there is no structural damage to his calf.
“No damage. They couldn’t tell what was going on with it. Just a lot of pain,” Jefferson said in a brief interview before a doctor’s appointment.
“MRI came back great. So the quicker we can get the pain out, the quicker I’ll be back. This isn’t a long-term thing,” he said.
“When you start messing with knees, you’re on panic mode,” he said. “So it was good to see that MRI come back like that.”
“They tried to throw an outlet pass to (DeMarcus) Cousins,” he said. “I jumped up and tapped it and that’s when I felt it – just instant pain right above my calf, in the back of my knee. I never experienced something like that. I couldn’t run.”
The Hornets won’t be without Tyler Zeller or Jefferson so their frontcourt will consist of Bismack Biyombo and Marvin Williams. Not the most dangerous sounding frontcourt in the world.
But on the plus side Kemba Walker is back. So that was great timing. Hopefully Jefferson can get healthy quick because the Playoffs are very near and a 5 game losing streak can end your Playoff chances.
