Portland Trail Blazers forward Al-Farouq Aminu is slated to be sidelined two-plus weeks due to a calf injury, according to head coach Terry Stotts.
Stotts told reporters before last night’s game against the Kings that Aminu would be re-evaluated in two weeks due to a calf injury suffered earlier in the week.
Noah Vonleh was inserted into the starting group in place of Aminu, although that adjustment may not be permanent. Stotts, as transcribed by Sportando, stated the following:
“Obviously being down as many as we were down, it was a good chance to look at a different lineup,” said Stotts. “I think until (Aminu) comes back, that might happen again.”
Al Farouq-Aminu has turned into a valuable contributor for Portland, a team that is steadily on the rise. He played in all 82 games with the Trail Blazers last season, averaging 10.2 points per game on a career-high 36% shooting from deep.
The sudden loss comes as disappointing news for Trail Blazers fans, with the Western Conference being extremely competitive at the moment. Portland has a 6-4 record though the first 10 games, tied for sixth place in the West.
