In what seemed to have been a foregone conclusion, a glimmer of hope was presented to the Minnesota Vikings organization. On Friday evening, reports indicated that QB Teddy Bridgewater would miss the entirety of the 2017-2018 NFL season to recover from his knee injury. Bridgewater’s agent Kennard McGuire, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that “I would not overreact to a story that has zero substance and no credibility.”
The Viking’s camp stated that there have been no updates to the torn ACL and dislocated left knee that Bridgewater suffered from earlier in the season. No efforts have been made by the team to shop for a QB which points all fingers towards Sam Bradford to remain the starter in Minnesota. The 29-year-old threw for 3,877 yards, 20 touchdowns, along with 5 interceptions. Needless to say, the 9-year veteran will have to step up his game if he wants to remain the starter.
Bradford who remains under contract throughout the upcoming season certainly is not the worst option, as the Vikings opened up their season as one of the hottest teams with a 5-0 start. The great play of Bridgewater is certainly being missed as the team finished the season with a very poor 2nd half of the season which resulted in them missing the playoffs. A healthy Bridgewater led the Vikings to an NFC title with an 11-5 record as the teams starting QB.
All teams will report to camp during the month of May and will continue until the start of the NFL season which begins in September.
