Not long ago, it appeared that Conor Benn was on his way to a welterweight championship bout. However, his career has been derailed after he tested positive for a women’s fertility drug known as clomiphene leading prior to his showdown with Chris Eubank Jr. days before the bout was set to take place, the world learned of his positive performance-enhancing drug test and the British Boxing Board of Control stepped in and postponed the bout indefinitely. Making matters worse, UK Anti-Doping has launched an investigation and some outlets report that Benn could face a ban of up to four years.
Benn’s future may be in jeopardy, but that has not stopped Adrien Broner from calling him out. Recently, Broner was spotted on social media calling the welterweight contender out. In his words, Broner says that he’ll “f*ck [Benn] up” and invites him to fight him in the U.S.
“I’ll still beat his a**. F*ck that ban! You’re banned from over there, not the U.S. I’ll f*ck buddy up,” Broner said.
Broner may not be banned from boxing in the U.S., but he recently took a step back from the sport due to his ongoing bouts with depression, anxiety and other mental ailments.
“Man, I’m going thru a lot at this moment in my life but I ain’t go give up I set some more goals and I ain’t stopping until I finish what I started but sorry to say this but I’m not fighting,” he wrote on Instagram as he pulled out of a fight with Omar Figueroa Jr.
“Sorry to all my fans but #MentalHealth is real and I’m not about to play inside the ring I’ve watched a lot of people die playing with they boxing career and that is something I won’t do just pray for me I love the sport of boxing to much to not give my all and I feel Like I came up short before because my mind wasn’t 100% there.”
