Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has seemingly identified Conor Benn’s next opponent. During a recent media sessions, Hearn suggested that Benn should fight former four division champion Adrien Broner if he were to get by former champion Chris Algieri on December 11.
“If Conor’s successful on Saturday, there’s talk of him potentially fighting the winner of Khan versus Kell Brook. To be honest I tried so hard to make the Benn v Khan fight, but I don’t think either of those guys will continue in the sport after their fight next year. I look instead at a potential fight with Adrien Broner,” Hearn said on Friday, according to Boxing Scene.
“It would be amazing to bring ‘The Problem’ to the UK in what would be a huge arena fight. We’ve seen recently though the danger of overlooking opponents and Conor must be completely focused on the test of Algieri.”
Benn was able to get by Algieri on Saturday. In what appeared to be a competitive fight early on, Benn landed a two-punch power combination that put Algieri down for the second time in the fight. With the New York native unable to beat the count, Benn scored the 13th knockout his career.
Meanwhile, Broner has been fairly inactive. He has fought only once since losing to Manny Pacquiao in January 2019. However, it does appear that he is interested in making a return to title contention 32 years old.
