Vikings tailback Adrian Peterson is going to be out for awhile. ESPN’s Josina Anderson broke the news that Peterson is scheduled to have surgery on his meniscus. It is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
#Vikings RB Adrian Peterson told me he’s planning to have surgery on Thurs to repair his meniscus. He’s “doing it with faith and optimism.”

Peterson has what is known as “bucket handle tear.” I’m told that’s a minm of 3-4 months out & up 6months usually. Again Peterson has faith.

Now for most players this injury could cost them the season. Of course A.P. isn’t most players. This is still the same guy who tore his ACL in week 17 and came back the following season to rush for over 2,000 yards just a couple of years ago. I expect Peterson to miss multiple games but you absolutely can’t rule him out for the season. Thus far Peterson hasn’t had the strongest 2016 season rushing for 50 yards on 31 carries.
Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata are slated to replace Peterson. I would assume whoever has the hot hand in each game will get the touches. Asiata is more of a goal line back who runs in between the tackles. McKinnon is more of an all around guy who also excels in the passing game. McKinnon certainly has more upside fantasy wise.
